Xenia Nekipelova

Interdisciplinary Artist
Xenia Nekipelova is a film director and interdisciplinary artist working across fiction, documentary, performance and participatory art. She studies film directing at the Moscow School of New Cinema in Dmitry Mamuliya’s fiction film workshop. Her short film Aura was a finalist at the Saint Anna International Film Festival in 2026.
Before cinema, she studied social sciences and contemporary art at HSE University and worked on exhibition and festival projects, including a triennial at the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art. Moving between observation and constructed situations, she uses cinema as a meeting point for image, text, movement and collective experience.
Director’s Statement
I make fiction and documentary films about how people come closer, remember and search for their place. The drama in my work grows out of spaces, gestures and chance encounters. I combine observation with staging, leaving room for the unexpected.
